Becoming a Sponsor
Your contribution, whether monetary or through a tech talk, is greatly valued by HackIowa.
Monetary donations are primarily used to help fund our largest event we host--Local Hack Day. This event, a 12 hour mini hackathon, challenges students to work in small teams to create a project (or 'hack') in something they're interested in. We pride ourselves in collaborating with other tech organizations on campus for this event; we hold begineer friendly workshops and are able to provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner to our participants free of charge. Those who finish their projects then demo their work to the other participants and judges. Prizes are awarded for well-envisioned and/or executed hacks.
Support we receive goes towards purchasing prizes for top presenters, advertising the event, and providing food during the event.
Monetary donations also contribute to the expansion of our hardware library. This service is free for our members and is a great way to gain hands-on experience with a variety of technologies and application program interfaces (APIs). We currently have several Amazon Echo Dots, Rasberry Pi's, and Arduino kits. Not only are these small devices highly popular for hackathon projects, but also many students will encounter them again in their coursework.
HackIowa currently serves over 50 active members. Not only do we have a broad student base in the College of Engineering, we also attract students from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Business. We work alongside other professional tech student organizations, like ACM and IEEE, to help students pursue careers in computer science and technology. Because of this, your company gains meaningful relationships with not only HackIowa and our members, but also other students engaged and passionate about tech.
HackIowa currently has a tiered system for business donations.
For $100 or a tech/company talk we will place your company logo under the sponsors tab on our organization website until the end of the current semester.
For $200 or $100 and a tech/company talk we will put a small company logo on the t-shirts for our Local Hack Day our organization puts on as well as your logo under the sponsors tab on our website until the end of next semester.
For $400 or prized at that value for our Local Hack Day we will name a prize after your company, put a large company logo on Local Hack Day T-shirts, and place your company logo on our website until the end of next semester.
